Try to do some training during the week to keep your fitness and strength up (consider gym, yoga, indoor training) as the mountain is a greater challenge when it’s hot.

Tips for MTB riding in the summer

Improve your hydration the evening or day before the ride. Water, iced green tea and avoid sugary or fizzy beverages.

Eat a proper meal at least an hour before riding to ensure good energy levels. Eat a meal after your ride. Focus on proteins and vegetables.

Consider timings more carefully and plan the routes in more detail. There is less spare time to recover from errors when it’s so hot.

Always ensure someone knows where and when you are going.

Keep your mobile phone fully charged before you set off.

Remember that you are awesome because you are getting out there and riding!
