May 6th Kathmandu

Even being busy to get everything up and running Dan and Bryan manage to give us daily updates and photos. We appreciate the info they get to us and even more their hard work and efforts in Nepal.

Bryan: We had a great day gathering supplies. We broke up into two teams and had 4 great local volunteers to help us out. Through donations we bought enough food for 600 people for 1 week. We can add that to the supplies being donated and we will have an immediate impact as soon as we reach our destination. Dan and Mahesh were one split team who bought the food supplies as well as linked up with the Bibeksheel Nepali group. They supplied us with over $5000 worth of medical supplies, a medical tent and 2 doctors. They are also providing the logistics to support the doctors with us for the time they are with so that they do not impact supplies for the displaced peoples of the area. They are very well organized and most of them, including our volunteers, are successful business owners who have dedicated their time in helping their country.

Me and Ash split up into another group and purchased a 5KW generator and fuel supplies to power the areas we are going to. We will use the power to establish a large basecamp to support us as we push out to the more remote areas. We also purchased 1 kilometer of rope to support the villages in building structures while we set up a more stable system for semi permanent structures. We spent the evening pack all of our gear and are ready to head out at 6 in the morning to link up and load the larger supplies and get on the road to Sindulpalchowk.

We are working with some of the volunteers on a new concept for shelters and have huge interest from USAID and other major organizations on supporting it. Should be briefing some higher ups next week once the idea is vetted and researched. I have spending some time building rapport with some cool people from USAID and tonight they have linked me up with some people and promising logistical support. They have taken me under their wing and are teaching me a lot and fully support the beliefs and goals of TWIMCF.
