The Abu Dhabi Beaches Sport Park (ADBSP), which officially opened this month, forms part of a broader strategy to help improve the physical activity levels of residents in the capital.
The beach in front of Gate 4 (Al Sahil) of the Corniche has been transformed into courts and pitches where, under Duplays management, residents can participate in a variety of sporting activities every day of the week. The beach sports include volleyball, football, dodgeball, netball, and beach cricket, as well as individual classes such as yoga and Pilates.
Municipality of Abu Dhabi City confirms that making sporting facilities more accessible to the broader community is an important step in providing a healthier and enjoyable environment for its residents and visitors. The Abu Dhabi Beaches Sports Park is not only a place where people can improve their personal fitness levels, but a platform where community spirit and civic engagement can thrive. Anyone living in Abu Dhabi can participate in the Duplays leagues irrespective of age, gender or sporting ability.
Duplays expects to attract some 1,200 participants to its sporting activities at the ADBSP every week with certain days reserved exclusively for professional or community groups in an effort to strengthen social interaction and inclusiveness. Themed events include “Tuesday Teachers Night” and “Meet Your Neighbor”, while women- and children-only leagues will seek to improve participation levels among these segments of the community.
