JetSkiing

The name of this water sport came from the ”Jet Ski” term, used for the first time by the Japanese Company Kawasaki to name a particular transportation vehicle on the water in 1973. Later on, this term became a generic one for all kind of vehicles which are using the water jet power – Ski Jets. There are two different types of ski jets:

  • Stand-up type (which is used especially in sport competitions)
  • Sit down type, used for recreational activities, transport, utilitarian and special interventions a.a.

Jet Skiing is a sport or an activity in which a person rides a Jet Ski on the water, jumping happy and proud on the waves. It is a very popular water sport in the UAE, where we have enough rental points for hiring a Jet Ski and places for riding it on the water. Some hotels located on the beach provide them for your entertainment. Until last year, in Dubai were no special regulations regarding the using of these vehicles. Except for the harbor and some parts of the creek you where able to use it. But now, following a lot of complaints, and for safety reasons, the authorities have banned them in some particular beach areas and introduced some regulations. Officially, there is just one permitted area for jet ski activity in Dubai for individual use, in the close vicinity of Umm Suqeim Fishing Harbor and the Al Mamzer area for jet skiing for companies. A ski jet must be registered and licensed for the RTA.

For Abu Dhabi, Ras al Kaimah, Sharjah, Fujeirah  and Ajman it is recommended to check the regulation system in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises. But if the authorities are trying to introduce some strict regulations it’s just because they want to create an organized and controlled environment for this activity, and not to suppress it.

It is well known that the Dubai Jet Ski Racing Team is a great worldwide competition activity and this is only because of the open environment. Anyway, we will update you with all the information regarding the regulation system.
