Diving

There are a few types of diving, like utility diving, sports diving, recreational diving (scuba) and there is also free diving and some kind of bubbling into the water called Snorkeling. Scuba diving means to equip yourself with the required gear, depending on the type of diving and to adventure into the water world for periods of time not longer than one hour. Of course there are some rules that are necessary to follow and also some special communication language is required, because it is not recommended to try talking under the water. Snorkeling is that “lazy“ activity in which you lay in the bottom-up position on the water surface, experiencing underwater life.

Except the sea in RAK and FUJ the gulf is really narrow 10-30meters deep and the ground is almost fully covered with sand. There have been some really unlucky sailors who had to give up there vessels to the sea. You can find a lot of ship wrecks in shallow waters which makes diving an adventure. For snorkeling, the underwater life at sandy beaches is not offering to much attraction, instead you should choose your spot close to breakwaters or mangroves.

If you are diving off the East Coast you will find amazing diving areas; from turtles, dolphins to all kinds of colorful fish and other sea life. Even if you go snorkeling close to the beach you will discover colorful underwater life.

Waters in the Arabic gulf and the Indian Ocean are very warm all year round. Especially in Wintertime diving is a lot of fun, because you are not melting when you put on your equipment or need to have a break on board the dive boat.

The quality of rental equipment and dive operators and instructors is really good in the UAE. To obtain a license (courses in English) the UAE is a perfect location and most of the time the fees are less than anywhere else. For rental equipment and diving trips a valid diving license is required.
