According to Guinness World Records, the UAE has achieved the first place for cultivating the highest number of Date Palms in the World
The award recognises the outstanding efforts made for the sustainable development of date palm for the present and future generations. The award is considered the first and biggest of its kind in the Arab world.
There will be a special awards for UAE nationals who have contributed to the growth of date palm farming. The first four categories include two winners each — first place winner getting Dh300,000, and the second place winner Dh200,000, apart from a trophy and certificate. The fifth category includes only one winner who will get a prize of Dh300,000.

The Award objectives are:
1. To enhance the prestige of the UAE in the field of date palm research by virtue of its pioneering role in this field.
2. To encourage people involved in the cultivation of date palm: researchers, growers, exporters, whether individuals or agencies.
3. To support research related to the development of the various aspects of the date palm industry.
4. To honor figures engaged in the date palm industry at the local, regional and international levels.
5. To establish and maintain co-operation between the various bodies involved in the date palm industry, particularly in the fields of production, processing, and marketing, as well as products in which dates constitute a principal ingredient.
6. To publicize date palm culture at local, regional and international levels.
7. Nationalization of Knowledge related to date palm cultivation through scholarships.
8. Illustrate the various roles of the date palm tree as a part of the UAE heritage.
9. Support and encourage new innovations related to date palm industry.
